Potala Palace, Lhasa Tibet
The highest ancient palace in the world – the Potala, is located in Lhasa Tibet. It was previously the winter palace of all the Dalai Lamas since the 14th Century. It is perched 130 meters above the Lhasa Valley and rises a further 170 meters, containing more than 1000 rooms and claiming 130,000 square meters of floor space.
